Places I have been

I can recommend anyone spend a few moments and play with the Google map applet on facebook and enter some of the places you have been. I sure had fun searching around and recalling places I have traveled too. Not as fun as actually going (in most cases) but still fun to recall the trip.

A woodworking effort to make Sophia's room beautiful

Thought some of yall may like to see a pic of my latest woodworking creation. It was fun to make the curved maple legs, make a large panel of birch for the top and use some nice joinery to bring it all together. Julia was a big part of the inspiration for the finish and did a lot of the sanding and painting herself too! I had to put the final clear coat of the poly urethane though as pregnant ladies cant be breathing those types of vapors. Hope you like it!

Lots of updates.....

Nesting: it is in full swing. Last weekend I bought a Dyson because I was concerned that the house was not staying clean enough with the electricians, etc going into the attic and under the house. I have to say I was shocked at how much stuff this vacuum picked up- I am in love!

I learned a scary lesson on Friday…..don’t ever answer the door. I came home from work after laying people off this week, firing someone for a serious indiscretion and in general an exhausting week. I was sitting on the couch watching a show, folding laundry when the doorbell rang. I did not even think twice, it was about 5 pm and it was still light out. At the door were two big guys who started asking me about my cable, internet and phone service. About 1 minute into the conversation, after the first guy commented on how nice our floor, carpet and couch were I realized this was not a good situation. Luckily I was able to get rid of them, despite their persistence to come into my house. That evening we acted on one of our to-do list items- get an alarm system. I have to say that I sleep better knowing that I now have one.

28 weeks: I have a doctor’s appointment later this week, but last week I was tested for gestational diabetes and other things. My sugar/insulin levels were in line, but it turns out that I have anemia- which explains why I feel like I could go to sleep as soon as I get home from work. I am now taking an iron supplement and in three days I have noticed that my energy levels have increased and I don’t look so pale.

This 28 week picture, taken yesterday by B, is one of my favorite from this pregnancy. I can’t wait until we take my maternity pictures in a few weeks.

Another week down

I just started my 27th week of pregnancy. I have officially started to pop out more and this weekend I experienced what being hot in pregnancy is like, since it was 90 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday. This is a picture at 26 weeks!

A little bit closer....

I am officially on the home stretch of this pregnancy-only 99 days to go!

While I was home today nesting away making spaghetti to freeze for when little miss arrives, my mom called to tell me that last night at a silent auction she and my dad bid on and won a crib- a super duper cool crib. It is the must have crib because it is totally green and all the celebs are buying it. More than anything it was cool to hear my mom say that she bought a crib so that the baby would have a place to sleep that was good for her back and warmer than sleeping in a pack and play.

What fun, everyone is getting ready for the baby.

I am really a princess......

Not only am I working on recovering, but I have come to the realization that with a to-do list as long as mine there is no way I will ever get it all done without some help...plus we have our limits of what we are skilled to do. As I am sitting on the couch I have an electrician here doing the 5 projects that we have always wanted to do, but just hadn't gotten to and gardeners outside doing a thorough spring cleaning of the yard. The electrician is easy to understand- adding circuits, speakers, etc is just not something we can do. The gardeners, well, I am exhausted and frankly spring brings new blooms of flowers and weeds!

I could get used to having other people do our projects.....I am loving it.

Now I am off to the nursery to buy some vegetable plants so that we can start our garden. I really do love spring.

A bit of a scare.....

We had a bit of a scare today when I started to experience labor like symptoms. With some bed rest, lots of additional water and the trip to the doctor we were able to determine that I have a bit of infection that can be treated with antibiotics.

We are so glad it was not more-- she still has lots of growing to do!

Mom, I will not always cooperate.......

On Friday we had a 4D ultrasound. I thought it would be easy, but boy was I wrong. We went in for our appointment, I lay down on the table and they squirted me with the ultrasound liquid only to find that our little one was asleep with both legs in her face. So, they told me to march up and down the hallway (outside the office I might add) like I was in a marching band- knees to chest. Oh and to help you fully picture it I had a paper towel stuck to my stomach to cover all the gel. Ok. Check again- no change. Now they want me to get on my knees and elbows for 5 mins! to make her think I am sleeping and she will wake up. Nothing. Then they have me drink a sprite and repeat both of the activities mentioned above. Finally she wakes up and moves her legs, but it took most of the appointment. We were however able to get some good face shots, a clear shot that she was a girl, and got to see her swallow, yawn and hiccup. It was cool, but it was a lot of work.
