Taste of our local Farmer's Market

Less than 1 mile from our house we have a farmer’s market like you see in the movies- it is beautiful.  Full of fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers and even tasty premade treats.  This Sunday I finally managed to remember to bring my camera to capture a few of the vibrate colors.

Isabella turns 7 months old!

Isabella is sitting, rolling and considering crawling any day now.  She is still happy, easy going and very accepting of new things.  She is a champion eater, gobbling down any new culinary treats we send her way, and loves her big sister.  Just this weekend the two of them played together for almost an house in a room away from both of us- it was amazing to peek in and see.

Cutting down our Christmas Tree

It was our 2nd annual trek to the mountains to cut down our Christmas tree.  It was cold, but gorgeous day.  We headed out and managed to cut down the perfect tree, tie it to the roof and get it home in one piece.  Then we spent the next day decorating it. Now I can say it is definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Thanksgiving 2011

I have lived in northern California for 14 years- this is the first time I was here for Thanksgiving.  With two little kids we decided that planes and trains for this short 4 day visit were not something we wanted to embark on, so we cooked.
And boy did we cook.  It started about a week before thanksgiving making some of the sides, preparing pie crusts, etc.  My best friend and her family were nice enough to accept our invitation and we were off to feed 7 adults, 1 toddler and 2 babies.  So we came up with the following menu: Turkey with gravy, stuffing with sausage, mushrooms, onions and celery, mashed potatoes, butternut squash with a gruyere cheese crust, salad with candied walnuts and pears and of course fresh cranberry sauce.  For dessert we had pumpkin pie, pecan pie and pumpkin cheesecake all accompanied by homemade French vanilla ice cream.
It was epic! Everything went together perfectly and the turkey was cooked perfectly.
