The End is Near!

A date is set.......July 9th I will go into the hospital at 7:30 pm to start my induction, since my blood pressure is still fluctuating and more signs of pre-eclampsia are starting to show up. That is unless she decides to come earlier, which would be okay with me.

Showered again

Yesterday our work threw us a couple's baby shower. We got lots of clothes, blankets, a baby backpack, money to finish out our registry and meals delivered to our home for the first few weeks! It was a great afternoon and after being off work for 7 weeks it was nice to see everyone again.

People might think we are crazy....we are

I have found that when you stay home you tend to notice more of what is going on with the house. Since I have been home for 5 weeks I started to notice that the floor in the second bathroom was actually starting to separate from the wall, meaning that water was now leaking under the floor. Immediately I start thinking about all the water and splashing my daughter will be doing in that bathroom in about 6-9 months (and I am a serious worrier) and we realized that this is as good a time as any to redo the floor of the bathroom.

Well, that would be simple but we can't seem to do anything in a simple manner. So, now we are in the middle of a full fledged bathroom remodel. It started on Monday and they promise to have it finished in 2 weeks. It is a little nerve racking, but I am trying to focus on the future and stay calm....it will all work out in the end. Plus, they are making pretty quick progress so I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel.

We passed inspection!

Last night we had our car seats inspected by the highway patrol to ensure they were in correctly. They were thanks to Cy's diligent review of the instructions on how to install them. We did however learn that the angle we had the car seat at, though acceptable, was not as optimal as it could be for an infant. So, we fixed that with an addition of a noodle under the base in both cars.

One more thing has been checked off the preparation list......

Weekend chores

This past weekend we attempted to tackle some things around the house that needed to get done, like repainting the ceiling of the master bathroom and replacing the water filter on the refrigerator. What this led to was lots of paint on our pavers outside (the can was leaking), which we had to scrub off with a steel brush, the discovery that the paint color was entirely incorrect and does not match the current ceiling color and a leaking refrigerator.

The good news is that I was able to paint match a sample of the old paint today and Cyrus fixed the leaking refrigerator last night. Thank goodness that is over!

Sophia's Stellar Stout

Nearing the end of my pregnancy I find myself spending lots of time researching different aspects of being a parent, including breastfeeding. Many sources that I have read have mentioned that if you drink a Belgian stout a few times a week your milk supply will be plentiful. Since my hubby is a beer maker in his free time, we decided to make this very concoction. So on Saturday the two of us had a kettle boil and created "Sophia's Stellar Stout" which should be ready in about 4 weeks, around the same time Sophia should make her outside world debute!

Evening with new friends

Last night we had dinner with two couples from our childbirth class at a local Italian restaurant. It was a great evening in which we learned more about each other and talked about the babies we are all about to have. We found out that we have lots in common and I think after our babies arrive we will be seeing more of these couples.

Air Conditioning?

The last two hot spells we have had our air conditioner acted as nothing other than a lawn ornament, since it was not working. I called during the first really hot spell to the company that had their name on the unit and supposedly installed it for the previous owners and they said that would come out between 2-4 pm that day(it helped that I mentioned I was 7 months pregnant). The technician showed up at 7:30 pm! and I was not here. Cy was sweet enough to sit in our then 90 degree house waiting for them while they took their sweet time getting here and I went out with some friends in search of air conditioned stores and locations. We thought that whatever the tech did fixed it, but within an hour of the tech leaving the fan stopped working and the air conditioner stopped. Now they claimed we needed a part, which took 2 weeks to get.......honestly in this day and age what takes two weeks to get? We waited patiently.

The technician came back two weeks later with the part and installed it. I "tested" the system by turning it on and it blew cool air, but it was a 70 degree day. Today was close to 90, so I flipped on the A/C in the afternoon only to have my house temperature rise from 80 to 81 degrees in the 3 hours I had it on. Cy came home from work, took one look at my beat red face and called the technician directly (stupidly the tech wrote his cell phone number on the invoice) and told him that he should come over TONIGHT! So, both the tech and my husband are in the backyard right now fixing? my air conditioner.

Gosh this has been difficult........

French country nursery

After months of work the nursery is complete (except for the sheets that are on order). The theme of the nursery is French country, in honor of her being due on Bastille Day. Hopefully she will like it as much as I do.
